The Division of Fire Fuels Program will be pile burning in Sullivan (20 acres), 10 miles west of Big Arm and in Hellroaring (150 acres), 5 miles east of Polson.  The objectives of these pile burns is to:
  1. Reduce wildfire risk associated with forest management activities (timber harvest, Hazard Fuels Treatments) by removing or reducing onsite fuel accumulations. 
  2. Remove piled slash to set up treatment areas for follow-up broadcast/understory burns. 
  3. Reduce piled slash by 70-100% throughout entire unit in all Fuels Project areas.
