TITLE: CPS Social Worker
LOCATION: Department of Human Resource Development
SALARY: $18.70 to $21.74 per hour
CLOSING DATE: Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy. The successful applicant, if not already employed by the Tribes must pass a pre-hire drug test and serve a mandatory six (6) month probationary period.
Receives CPS referrals and CPI/CFS referrals via a Central Intake system (CI) used by child investigators State wide. Cases coming in are reviewed, and then assigned to the CPS workers. The computer case is assigned per case “C” number and then tracked by the computer. Closed cases are required to be submitted to the CPS Program Manager for review as part of the closure process (internal administration review).
The worker will be required to monitor and provide case management to the assigned CPS referral investigations. The worker will communicate closely with all CPS workers as well as report to the CPS Program Manger the progress of assigned CPS referrals.
Thus, the worker will need to monitor CPS investigative referral timelines to make sure the CPS workers are responding and investigating the CPS referrals in a timely manner. Also, must monitor documentation of investigative services provided to make sure completed in a timely manner with case closures of all CPS referral assigned worker within the required timelines. The Incumbent will complete peer case file reviews on a monthly basis.
The worker will attend the Child Protection Team (CPT) meeting which occurs every third (3rd) Wednesday of each month.
Thus, be responsible for ensuring court reports are completed and filed with the Tribal Court in a timely manner as well as ensure home visits are completed every month.
Investigate all referrals of child abuse/neglect using procedures and time lines as detailed in the Tribal Code, Social Services manual, and Social Services policies and procedures including written instructions. Follows protocols for immediate investigation in the event of injury, life and limb, and as requested by the CPS program Manager and Department Head.
All other duties as assigned by the Family Services Division Manager and the DHRD Department Head.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (AS REFLECTED ON THE TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION)
The successful applicant must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and must have minimum of (2) years of actual working experience as a child protection investigative services worker with increased work responsibilities preferred. Supervision experience in child protection would be preferred as well.
This position is subject to a background check in accordance with Public Law 101-630.
This position is a mandatory reporter
The incumbent must be willing to attend periodic training to increase expertise as determined by the Family Services Division Manager and/or Department Head.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with client, Tribal Council, other DHRD employees, families and employees in other organizations/departments and the general public. Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers as well as be a team player.
Maintain strict confidentiality of information as required by the position. Must pass background investigation if hired. Must have never been convicted of/or pled guilty to a crime of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual offense or crime of violence (felony).
Must not have resigned to avoid disciplinary actions or have been dismissed from employment within the past (3) years.
Must possess a Valid Montana Driver’s License and maintains liability insurance.
No involvement with any child or social service protection agency as a client, no alcohol or drug abuse charges or domestic violence charges within the past five (5) years mandatory.
Must be able to demonstrate computer literacy and ability to operate and do data entry.
Must not have had a conviction of driving under the influence of substances or a per se within the last three (3) years.
