TITLE:                      Séliš-Ql̓ispé Language Apprentice

                                (4 or more contract positions)

LOCATION:              Séliš-Ql̓ispé Culture Committee (SQCC)

                                St. Ignatius, MT

SALARY:                  $16.50 per hour

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

This position is not a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy.  The successful applicant, if not already employed by the Tribes must pass a pre-hire drug test and serve a mandatory six (6) month probationary period.

This position provides the time and support necessary for Séliš-Ql̓ispé Language Apprentice to become a speaker of the Séliš-Ql̓ispé language. The Séliš-Ql̓ispé Language Apprentice will go through the Seliš u Qlispé Nuwewlštn curriculum series, developing the proficiency needed to be a future Séliš-Ql̓ispé Language teacher. This intensive instruction includes a tightly designed sequence of a total of 6 books. The first year provides a one-year contract which consists of completion of 4 books with the opportunity for an additional one-year contract consisting of 2 final books to continue into the Séliš-Ql̓ispé Language program completing the curriculum series. (2^nd year contract is based on performance evaluation, test scores, attendance and participation of first year).

This apprenticeship will include, but is not limited to the following duties:

• Strong commitment to the survival and revival of the Séliš-Ql̓ispé language.
• Strong work ethic and professional conduct.
• Ability to work constructively and positively with colleagues, elders, language teachers, fellow apprentices and the community.
• Responsible for conducting activities in a professional manner.
• Responsible for being punctual and timely completing tasks.
• Positively participating and contributing in open discussions.
• Creating a safe, friendly and productive work environment.
• Attend and participate in Séliš-Ql̓ispé Language classes.
• Successfully complete the learning objectives of the program within the time allotted.
• Attend daily Séliš-Ql̓ispé Language Immersion sessions.
• Attend, participate and assist with cultural activities.
• Adhere to all SQCC Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain and foster a safe learning environment for all students and fellow workers.

MINIMUM RECRUITING QUALIFICATIONS (AS REFLECTED ON THE TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION)

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Commitment to successfully complete the Séliš-Ql̓ispé Language Adult Language Program.
• Long-term commitment to provide Séliš-Ql̓ispé Language instruction.
• Good work ethic and study habits.
• Must have good communication and relationship skills.
• Understanding and appreciation for Séliš-Ql̓ispé Tribal cultures in order to work effectively with staff, family, and the community.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (AS DETERMINED BY THE INTERVIEW):
