All CSKT EMPLOYEES, with Supervisor Approval;
It is that time of year again for our annual participation in the Adopt-A-Highway clean up, from highway mile marker 50 to 52. We didn’t get to do it last year, so we hope to have double turnout for participation this year! Please see the attached map.
Parking: South end of the Parking lot near the Joe McDonald Health and Fitness Center, and walk to Quick Silver.
If you feel you cannot walk that far, please park at Quick Silver being mindful of their customers.
Meet: Quick Silver: 9:00 am to start the day with a tailgate safety session, and board transportations bus service provided by Quick Silver to the designated start points.
Area: Mile marker 50 to 52, both sides of the highway this from Quick Silver, south to the “Pablo Pass” area.
Provided: Safety Vests, garbage bags, water for hydration, hard hats (if needed), and a first aid kit.
Bring with you: Proper foot wear, no sandals or open toed shoes, good gloves, long sleeve shirts, and pants; which will help prevent sunburn, insect bites, cuts, scrapes and abrasions. Please bring your own sunscreen, if needed.

Work methods: Please use proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries, do not fill bags too full, please be aware of your surroundings of all times, the public highway is a dangerous environment, avoid and do not pick up trash in the roadway, bridges, on overpasses, or underpasses. Face traffic when working to hear and see on-coming cars. Stay on the side of the road and do not cross back and forth on the highway, stay hydrated, DO NOT PICK UP SYRINGES OR HYPODERMIC NEEDLES, DEAD ANIMALS OR ANY SUSPICIOUS CONTAINERS that may have hazardous materials in them. We will notify MDT of these dangers. Tied bags and debris will be placed off the shoulder by the reflectors for pick up by MDT.
Lunch and Closing: We will meet in the South end of the Parking lot near the Joe McDonald Health and Fitness Center for lunch provided, noon -1:00pm.
Disclosure: No participants under the age of 10 are allowed unless authorized by MDT. Participants 11-15 years of age must be under the supervision of an adult. Volunteers must wear safety vests during the litter pick up. It is acknowledged the litter pick up is hazardous in nature, and volunteer participants agree to obey and abide by all laws and regulations relating to safety and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless MDT, CSKT and its employees from all liability, judgements, cost, expenses and claims of any nature whatsoever to any person or property arising out of the performance or non-performance of their work.
