Pablo, MT August 6, 2021 – Beginning at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, August 7, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office officials will be issuing re-entry permits at the mile marker 2 checkpoint on Highway 35 from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. to residents north of Mahood Lane and Finley Point up to mile marker 9 on the south side of the Boulder 2700 fire perimeter. The Mission Valley Power Company has restored power to this area.

How to Obtain a Re-Entry Permit:
Residents can receive a re-entry permit allowing their vehicle past the checkpoint and return to their home. Proof of residency is required in the form of a driver’s license showing the address, a utility bill, or other documentation, including online (paperless) bills on cell phones or screen shots.

Once residents have acquired this permit, they can enter and exit the area freely and do not need to register for any additional permit. Residents may also acquire a temporary access permit for contractors by providing the Sheriff’s Office officials with a work order or similar documentation.

Residents of the Finley Point area up to Mahood Lane have been able to receive a re-entry permit since Tuesday, August 3 and can also do so at the mile marker 2 checkpoint.

East Shore Residents between mile marker 2 and 9 remain in the "SET" stage of the “Ready, Set, Go” evacuation system and should be ready to leave at any time. All homes north of mile marker 9 (Station Creek Way) up to mile marker 13.5 (Blue Bay) remain evacuated at this time.

Highway 35 is still closed in both directions to through traffic to reduce the possibility of members of the public from unsafely accessing the active fire area and to facilitate the safety and effectiveness of the firefighters working to contain the Boulder 2700 fire.

Please be patient with the registration process and the Sheriff’s Office officials as they help get residents safely back to their homes. The partners responding to and working to suppress the Boulder 2700 Fire appreciate the public’s cooperation to adhere to the road closure. The remaining evacuation area north of the fire will be re-evaluated as fire behavior allows.
