Crooks Fire Update for August 11, 2021

 

Location: 10 air miles east of Arlee, Montana     

Estimated Size: 1080 acres          

Containment: 0%    

Personnel: 115

Incident Command: Local Type 3 organization, led by Art Trahan, Incident Commander, Robert D. McCrea (T)

 

Evacuations and Closures: The following area closures are in place:

  • St. Mary’s to the North Fork is closed
  • Main Jocko Road (1000 Rd) is closed at the 3000 Rd junction. 

No structures are threatened, and no evacuation orders are in effect. 

Fire activity continues to be minimal after Saturday’s rain event.  With increased temperatures and winds forecasted towards the end of the week, look for fire activity to become more active.  Firefighters continue preparing containment and contingency lines near the south fork gate and along the south fork road. 

 

Weather Outlook: Weather today will be warmer and drier with a high of 83, and winds out of the west 11-16 mph with gusts around 31 mph on the ridges. Hotter and drier weather continues through the rest of the week and into the weekend.
