August 31, 2021, 10:30 AM- Ronan, Montana –Wildland fire officials with the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes Division of Fire, have lowered fire danger within the Flathead Indian Reservation to MODERATE.

Campfires are allowed, but debris burning is still closed until October 1

The Division of Fire recognizes that when the days are cooler, and the feel of fall is in the air, residents and visitors may be tempted to leave a campfire smoldering to go for a hike or burn that pile of yard debris that has been growing over the summer. Fire professionals caution, that conditions are still dry overall, and fires will still start from most accidental causes. Although intensity may be more moderate, it can still burn very hot! Do not get complacent and remember that it is illegal to burn your backyard pile of leaves and vegetative debris.
