Location: Eight miles east of Polson, MT           Estimated Size:  2,230 acres                 Containment: 90 percent

Evacuation Status and Closures: Boulder 2700 Road

Highway 35 has a speed limit of 35 mph from mile markers 6 to 13 for public and firefighter safety.

Key Message: Drivers need to be aware of existing hazards in the fire area including rolling rocks and debris, firefighter engines and crew vehicles, and utility vehicles. DO NOT STOP in the fire area due to all these hazards.


Current Status: The fire was active all weekend with the wind and higher temperatures.  Most of the activity was interior.  Last evening the fire grew upslope on the east flank.

Planned Actions: Today, firefighters and equipment will monitor the fires growth at the contingency lines that are in place along the top of the fire.  Five Single Engine Air Tankers are dropping retardant along those contingency lines.  The S.E.A.T.’s will load and return most of the day.

Weather: Sunny.  Max Temp- 75-81 Wind- West, 11-20 mph.  Gusts to 28 mph.
