June 30, 2023

Good morning,

We hope you have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Work will pause for the Fourth of July starting Saturday, July 1, through Tuesday, July 4, to accommodate increased holiday traffic and to give workers time to spend with their families. Crews will return on Wednesday, July 5.

Over the holiday, traffic will be traveling on a paved surface and no delays are anticipated.

When crews return on July 5, paving operations will continue on the northbound lanes, the approaches to 3rd Avenue and Old US 93, and the southbound couplet - the short, 600-foot two-lane segment connecting 1st Avenue to US Highway 93 (US 93), just north of the Round Butte Road and US 93 intersection.

Milling will also continue on the northbound and southbound lanes at the north end of the project. Traffic will be traveling on a gravel surface in the work zone.

Crews will be onsite Wednesday through Saturday, from 5 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Spring Creek Road Update:

Work continues on the new approach to Lake Seed. Once the approach is complete, Spring Creek Road at US 93 will be permanently closed. The closure is expected to take place the second week of July.

Round Butte Road Mill & Fill-Ronan

Work continues on the Round Butte Road resurfacing project. Crews returned this morning, Friday, June 30, to paint temporary road stripes and will remove traffic control once complete.

After the holiday, crews will be on-site Wednesday, July 5, and Thursday, July 6, to chip seal, sweep, fog seal, and paint the permanent road markings. Traffic control will be in place.

If conditions allow, the project will be completed on Thursday, July 6 and crews will not have to return later this summer as originally planned.

Glover Road and US 93 Safety Improvements

North of the Ronan-North project, MDT, in partnership with Riverside Contracting, have almost completed work on a safety project near Pablo on Glover Road, just west of US 93 that also included pavement preservation, extending from just north of Ronan to the north of Pablo, ending at the intersection of US 93 with Minesinger Trail.

This project is currently paused. Crews will return in mid-July to place the final roadway epoxy.

Remember the three Ss of work zone safety when traveling through the construction zone: speed, space, and stress. Slow down when approaching work zones and follow posted speed limits. Leave adequate braking room between your vehicle and the one ahead of you. Keep your cool, pay attention, and plan for delays.

Make a Sober Ride Part of Your Fourth of July Plans.

For many Montanans, Memorial Day weekend kicks off the start of summer travel, culminating with Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately, these summer months can also be some of the deadliest on Montana’s roads due to increased motor vehicle crashes. To help ensure everyone enjoys a safe holiday weekend, law enforcement agencies and the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) will be increasing patrols to watch for and stop impaired drivers on Montana’s roadways. Before you make plans to celebrate Fourth of July, plan for safe, sober transportation and insist your friends and family do the same. Remember to always buckle up before you go, as using your seat belt is your best defense against serious injury or death in the event you’re in a crash. This is a Vision Zero Message from the Montana Department of Transportation.Learn more about the goal of Vision Zero and impaired driving prevention here:https://www.mdt.mt.gov/visionzero/onereason/default.aspx#sober.

Best wishes,

Sloane Stinson
