SINKHOLE FIRE INFORMATION as of April 7, 2021
The Sinkhole Fire was reported at 2:45 on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. The Type 3 incident is located 5 miles west of Dixon, MT along the Flathead River. The fire is burning in thick brush, with pockets of Juniper and Ponderosa pine. The fire cause is believed to be by railroad work in the area. There are miscellaneous overhead, five type 6 engines, and one dozer assigned to the fire. 25 personnel total.
Activity- Active wind driven fire behavior was observed. There are no evacuations and no structures threatened.
Colder weather with snow and rain are expected tomorrow to help with the suppression of the fire.
The fire is estimated at 100 acres and 0% contained. Please stay out of the area and adhere to all road closures.
