Redhorn Fire Update for August 7, 2022


Location: 7 air miles northeast of St. Ignatius, Montana in Tribal Mission Mountain Wilderness within the Grizzly Bear Management Zone.

Evacuations and Closures: There are no evacuations or closures associated with the fire at this time, however the area is closed to recreation due to grizzly bear habitat from July 15 to October 1 yearly. 

No structures are threatened.

Current and Planned ActivityHand crews will continue constructing a fuel break along the M-3000 road, starting at McDonald Lake headed west. A Type I helicopter will be doing water drops throughout the day along the lower west perimeter of the fire, focused on slowing downhill movement of the fire. 

Weather Outlook: Mostly sunny, Temp- 90-95 valleys and 65-70 ridges. Relative humidity- 8-18 percent valleys and 15-25 percent ridges.  Wind- Southwest 5-10 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
