The Magpie Rock Fire was reported at 12:00am on Monday, July 27, 2020. The Type 3 incident is located 8 miles west of Dixon, MT. The fire is burning in steep, rocky terrain with dense brush and timber. The fire cause is believed to be a lightning holdover and is currently under investigation. There are miscellaneous overhead, six type 6 engines, Ten smokejumpers, Three 20 man Type II Initial Attack Crews, One 10 man short crew, Five S.E.A.T.’s (Single Engine Air Tankers), Two helicopters, and Two dozers assigned to the fire. There are 139 personnel assigned to the incident.


Activity- Active fire behavior was observed. Helicopters did bucket work on hotspots. There are no evacuations and no structures threatened.


Today- Firefighters and equipment will continue to establish containment lines.


Road closures- Revais 6000 road between Revais and Magpie. Magpie 5000 road.


Today’s weather- Today- Mostly Sunny. Temp- 95-100 valleys and 70-75 ridges. Min Humidity- 13-23%. Wind- Variable less than 7 mph. Ridge top, west 5-15 mph.

The fire is estimated at 250-300 acres and 0% contained.
