HORSESHOE FIRE INFORMATION July 30, 2020
The Horseshoe Fire is a Type 4 incident located 10 miles southwest of Polson, MT. The fire is burning in a Ponderosa pine and juniper stand along the banks of the Flathead River. The fire was started by an unattended campfire. There are miscellaneous overhead, Three type 6 engines, and One 20 man Type II Initial Attack Crew fighting the blaze.
There are 49 personnel assigned to the fire.
Yesterday’s Activity- Active interior fire behavior with single tree torching was observed. Three helicopters did bucket work on hotspots.
Today- Firefighters will continue to mop-up hotspots and use aviation resources where they are needed.
There are no evacuations and no structures threatened.
Road closures- None
Today’s weather- Mostly sunny. Temp- 95-100 valleys and 75-80 ridges. Min Humidity- 11-19% Wind- 4-8 afternoon.
The fire is estimated at 140 acres and 20% contained.
