MAGPIE ROCK FIRE INFORMATION July 30, 2020
The Magpie Rock Fire is a Type 3 incident that is located 8 miles west of Dixion, MT. The lightning caused fire is burning in steep, rocky terrain with dense brush and timber. There are 287 personnel assigned to the fire.
Activity yesterday- Very extreme fire behavior was observed. The fire continues to move east/southeast towards Revais Creek. Heavy Air Tankers dropped retardant on the fire, along with other aviation resources. A burnout operation was successful on the northeast flank. There are no evacuations and no structures threatened.
Today- Firefighters and equipment will continue to establish containment lines.
Road closures- Revais 6000 road between Revais and Magpie. Magpie 5000 road.
Today’s weather- Mostly sunny. Temp- 95-100 valleys and 75-80 ridges. Min Humidity- 11-19%. Wind- 4-8 mph in the afternoon. Ridge top, west 5-10 mph.
The fire is now estimated at 2,500 acres and 0% contained.
